Find your research people.

A small, friendly group of medical students, F1s and F2s figuring out research together — swapping ideas, sharing what's working, and reminding each other that none of us have to do this alone.

What this is

A low-pressure space for curious medics who want to do real projects around the chaos of a normal rota. There's no superstar energy here and no complicated sign-up, just a group of people figuring out how research actually works inside real hospitals and universities, and helping each other along the way.

Who this is for

You'll fit right in if you're curious about research but unsure where to start, if you'd like to get involved in a project or test out an idea of your own, and if you're happy to share openly, be generous with other people's attempts, and learn in public alongside everyone else.

Who this isn't for

It probably won't be your thing if you're only chasing CV points without much interest in the work itself, or if you're hoping for guaranteed authorship, publications, or a ready-made SFP application. We're also not the right fit for anyone who wants to bring ego, rudeness, or a habit of tearing other people's projects down.

What actually happens

Most of the action lives in three places. There's a monthly call on Zoom or Discord where we check in on projects, share small wins and ask the questions we've been sitting on. Between calls, a small group chat on WhatsApp or Discord keeps things moving for the quick stuff — "does this email sound okay?", "how do I actually register an audit?" And every so often someone drops a project idea into the group with a "who's in?" — and small teams form around audits, QI work or med ed projects.

Ideas you can steal

We keep a running list of simple project prompts you can adapt to your own trust or university — audit ideas that work in almost any hospital, small med ed projects you can run with a handful of students, QI ideas that don't need funding or layers of approval, and data projects for anyone who enjoys R or Python and wants to get their hands on real datasets.

How it works

Joining is straightforward. Fill in the form below so we know who you are, where you are in training, and what you're hoping to get out of the group. We'll add you to the group chat and send through the details for the next call or meet-up. From there, just turn up, listen in, share what you're working on, and ask for help when you need it.

No minimum commitment, no fees, no pressure. Lurking quietly at first is completely fine.
